According to The Independent, Arsenal are prepared to move for Barcola. TEAMtalk claim the Gunners have been in contact with his camp. The Premier League champions previously considered a move for Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr, but he signed a new deal.
PSG's valuation could be an obstacle. Barcola is said to be worth around £145 million, though some outlets report the price is closer to £128m.
Liverpool's position
Liverpool currently hold the upper hand, having advanced in discussions with both PSG and the player's representatives. Barcola is believed to be keen to join the Reds. However, no fee has been agreed, and time is running out with Arsenal ready to sanction a major-money move.
Gakpo update
Meanwhile, Tottenham have been told that £70m could secure a deal for Cody Gakpo, according to talkSPORT. Liverpool's stance is to retain the Dutch attacker unless they sign two forwards.
Any movement would only come late in the window, with the deadline on September 1. Sources have referred to Spurs' pursuit as a "fool's errand" given Liverpool's reluctance to sanction an exit.
