Liverpool's pursuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola could become clearer after Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup, with the French club's team selection potentially indicating their intentions. Meanwhile, the agent of Liverpool youngster Ifeanyi Ndukwe has confirmed ongoing talks with clubs over a loan move.
Barcola's Super Cup Role Under Scrutiny
Barcola, valued at around £145 million, is included in PSG's squad for their clash against Europa League winners Aston Villa. If he starts, it could signal to Liverpool that PSG intend to keep the 23-year-old, or it could be a tactic to drive up his price. Figures between £128m and £145m have been mentioned, with Barcola reportedly keen on a move to Anfield.
Barcola's involvement may force Liverpool to clarify their stance if PSG appear to be reintegrating him into the senior side after his extended absence following World Cup duties. If he is on the bench, Liverpool's chances of signing him this summer may improve. Reds boss Andoni Iraola will have a clearer picture once team sheets are revealed.
PSG's Transfer Moves Could Pave Way
PSG are reportedly waiting to secure replacements before allowing Barcola to leave. They are close to signing Barcelona's Ferran Torres and also hold an interest in Ajax forward Mika Godts. If both deals go through, it could clear the path for Barcola's exit. PSG have already signed Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche this summer.
PSG boss Luis Enrique said: "I don't know and I don't want to speak about any player individually, because it's always dangerous when you are asking something positive or negative about a player. I stay focused on my team."
Ndukwe's Agent Confirms Loan Talks
Ifeanyi Ndukwe's representative, Georg Lederer, revealed that discussions are ongoing with multiple clubs. The 18-year-old, who joined from Austria Wien, cannot play competitive matches in England due to work permit regulations, making a loan the most sensible option.
Lederer said: "I can't say which clubs we are in dialogue with, but I can confirm that we are in dialogue with Danish clubs about Ifeanyi Ndukwe. The only thing I can say is that it is not about the top clubs in Denmark. We are also talking to several foreign clubs, but right now we have to decide in collaboration with Liverpool where Ifeanyi will fit best."
He added: "We are looking at several different parameters. First and foremost, it is about Ifeanyi getting a lot of playing time, and then Liverpool is also looking at what type of football clubs play, as they want him to play in a high-pressing defence, so it is a bit like what you see in Liverpool. Since Ifeanyi has just joined Liverpool, it is of course a loan deal without an option to buy. But for now I can't say much more."
