Liverpool are poised to secure their second defensive signing of the January transfer window, with reports indicating a verbal agreement is in place for teenage Senegalese talent Mor Ndiaye.
Agreement Reached for Senegalese Prospect
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement to bring 18-year-old Mor Ndiaye to Anfield. The young defender, who celebrated his birthday on Tuesday 6th January 2026, currently plays for Amitie Football Club in Senegal, a club owned by former Premier League striker Demba Ba.
Ndiaye recently represented Senegal at the Under-17 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where his team topped their group before being eliminated in the round of 32 by Uganda. His performances have evidently caught the eye of Liverpool's recruitment team.
Integrating into Liverpool's Youth Setup
The Liverpool ECHO reports that upon completion of the move, Ndiaye is expected to join Liverpool's Under-21 squad, which is coached by former Wales manager Rob Page. This pathway is designed to nurture his development within the club's system.
This potential signing could facilitate a loan move for 19-year-old Amara Nallo, who has seen limited first-team action and has been sent off in both of his senior appearances. A loan would provide Nallo with crucial playing time elsewhere.
A Busy Window for Young Defenders
Ndiaye would become the club's second January acquisition, following reports of an agreement for 17-year-old Austrian centre-back Ifeanyi Ndukwe. However, negotiations for Ndukwe are reportedly ongoing, with his arrival planned for the start of pre-season training in July 2026, after he turns 18.
Ndukwe also impressed at the U17 World Cup, helping Austria to a 4-0 victory over England in the round of 16 before they finished as runners-up to Portugal.
This focused activity in the youth market comes against a backdrop of speculation regarding Liverpool's senior defensive options. Ibrahima Konate has entered the final six months of his contract, while primary target Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace is attracting strong interest from rivals including Arsenal, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.
