Leo Walta is reportedly on the verge of sealing a loan move to Los Angeles FC. According to Sportbladet, a deal to take the midfielder to the MLS has already been agreed in principle, and will also contain an option to buy.
Struggles at Swansea
Walta has struggled to make his mark on the Swans since arriving from Sirius in January 2026, and has scored one goal in 12 games. The 23-year-old has enjoyed just six minutes of league action so far this season, and wasn't included in the matchday squad for the recent trip to Derby County.
Matos on Walta's role
His absence from the squad in recent weeks has already emerged as a talking point among supporters. When quizzed on Walta's role, Vitor Matos said last week: "Leo is one player in the squad. All the players signed a contract to come to the club, not to play in the first XI. Leo is one of them."
"He's a player with a lot of good attributes, and he's really good with the ball."
"Not all the games are the right moment for him, and we try to use him when we have that possibility."
Further departures possible
It now seems likely he will be shipped out on loan, and reports suggest he'll soon be linking up with former Tottenham star Heung Min-Son and French World Cup winner Hugo Lloris. Whether Walta will end up having a future with the Swans remains to be seen.
There could well be further departures before Tuesday's deadline, with the club likely to listen to offers for wingers Zeidane Inoussa and Florian Bianchini. Zan Vipotnik has also been the subject of speculation for the last few weeks, but so far no side has shown a willingness to match Swansea's £20m valuation. The window closes at 11pm on Tuesday.
