Antonin Kinsky has confirmed his desire to remain at Tottenham Hotspur despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the club's goalkeeper situation. The 23-year-old is expected to sign a new long-term contract with Spurs and has already made a significant personal sacrifice to ensure he is ready for the upcoming season.
Kinsky's Commitment and Sacrifice
Kinsky ruled himself out of the Czech Republic's World Cup squad this summer to undergo a minor medical procedure, prioritizing his readiness for the new campaign. This decision came after a remarkable resurgence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he delivered a series of impressive performances that helped Roberto De Zerbi's side secure Premier League survival on the final day against Everton.
"It's a challenge; I'll be fighting for a spot during preseason. Negotiations are underway with the club about what the future might hold. I'm interested in staying and fighting for my place because the English league is great," Kinsky told Czech outlet Olympijsky Tym. "Whether I'll be the starter or the backup is something the coach will decide. In my mind, I've always been the No1, even when I was on the bench. I'll take the same approach now, and I believe it'll work out."
Goalkeeper Shuffle at Spurs
The potential departure of first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who missed the final seven games of last season following hernia surgery, has opened the door for Kinsky. Veteran shot-stopper Martin Dubravka is set to join the club upon the expiry of his contract at Burnley in July, adding further competition. However, despite longstanding interest in Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, Spurs appear ready to give Kinsky an opportunity as their first-choice option.
A Remarkable Turnaround
Kinsky's journey this season has been dramatic. He was replaced just 17 minutes into his Champions League debut against Atletico Madrid in March, a setback that could have derailed his confidence. Instead, he fought back to become a key figure in the team's survival push. Now, with a potential new contract on the horizon, Kinsky is poised to seize the moment and establish himself as Tottenham's No1.
