Jack Grealish has no intention of returning to Manchester City this summer while Pep Guardiola remains manager, with the attacking midfielder determined to secure a permanent move to Everton.
Loan Spell at Everton
Grealish has spent the current season on loan at Everton after being frozen out at the Etihad. Guardiola excluded him from the squad for the Club World Cup in America and axed him towards the end of last season. Seeking a fresh challenge, Grealish moved to Everton and rediscovered some of his best form. However, his campaign was cut short in January when he suffered a stress fracture in his foot during a clash with former club Aston Villa.
Injury and Recovery
The 30-year-old underwent surgery, which also ruled him out of this summer's World Cup in North America. Despite the setback, Grealish is optimistic about his recovery. "I feel really good in myself now," he said. "I had a 10-week Zoom call with the surgeon, who said it couldn't be looking any better at this stage. So for me, it's happy days."
Gratitude to Everton
Grealish praised Everton for their support during his injury layoff: "I can't thank them enough for the way they've been with me since I've been injured. They've been brilliant. From the staff to the players to the manager."
Transfer Plans
Grealish's loan deal expires in June, and he is expected to report back to City for pre-season in July. However, he knows he has no future under Guardiola and is hoping to secure a permanent move to Everton, provided the clubs agree on a fee. City value him at around £50 million, but may have to accept less as Grealish enters the final 12 months of his contract. If a deal cannot be reached, he would prefer another loan move rather than return to Manchester, becoming a free agent in 2027.
