Hull City's £10m Vipotnik Bid 'Pathetic' Says Robinson

Hull City's £10 million bid for Zan Vipotnik has been labelled “pathetic” by former Swansea City forward Andy Robinson. The Slovenian international has attracted the interest of the newly-promoted Premier League side, after a season that saw him bag 23 goals for the Swans.

Robinson: Valuation Should Be £20m-£25m

Vipotnik should be worth at least double the sum that the Tigers' initial bid came to, according to BBC Sport Wales pundit Robinson. Speaking to BBC Radio Wales Sport, Robinson said: “Hopefully we can keep Vipotnik because his goals, it's quite phenomenal. He scored 25 goals (in all competitions) last year. £10m for the player who finished as top scorer in the Championship is pathetic. It's absolutely pathetic to even start discussing that. I think the valuation will be around £20m to £25m.”

Vipotnik's Opening Weekend Performance

The 24-year-old started the Swans' opening game of the new Championship season, as the Welsh side claimed three points in a 2-1 win at Stoke City. Vipotnik played the first 65 minutes at the bet365 Stadium, and in that time, he managed to provide an assist for Joseph Opoku's 22nd-minute equaliser. His substitute replacement, Adam Idah, also contributed to the opening weekend win for Vitor Matos' side, as a goal with his first touch of the match was enough to seal the victory.

Robinson Backs Swansea's Squad Depth

Despite the future of Vipotnik still up in the air, Robinson still backs his former side to be strong in a competitive Championship season. “For Swansea City, we're hearing from behind the scenes that it's alright, it's quite rosy in terms of the financial situation,” he added. “We've got [Melker] Widell who can play in behind as a false nine, [Moussa] Yeo's come in, there are still options there. [Ross] Stewart who has come in as well, if we can get him punching this season, we've got a player on our hands, we know what he can do at this level of football. They've done business well behind the scenes. If he (Vipotnik) did decide to go or the board decide to sell him, but for £10m, it's pathetic. At that, he's got to stay at the football club and he's going to keep scoring goals hopefully.”
