Troy Parrott is expected to feature for Tottenham Hotspur in Wednesday's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Norwich City, retaining his place in Jose Mourinho's squad. The 18-year-old Republic of Ireland striker played 45 minutes for Spurs' Under-23s on Monday, scoring in their 3-2 win over Wolves, after making a brief Premier League appearance against the same opposition on Sunday.
Mourinho has been cautious with Parrott's development, despite growing fan clamour for more game time following injuries to Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son. The Spurs manager emphasised the club's careful approach, stating, 'We are taking very good care of him and we cannot tell you everything or every detail. We are taking good care of a young player but also taking care of a young boy in society, life, private life.'
Parrott, who turned 18 in February, has made two Premier League appearances this season. Mourinho likened his development to that of academy graduate Harry Winks, who captained Spurs for the first time against Wolves. 'Troy is a process, a young kid with a lot, a lot, a lot to learn,' Mourinho added. 'He has qualities, has potential but he is not the finished product.'
The Portuguese manager confirmed Parrott will be on the bench for the Norwich clash, continuing his gradual integration into the first team. 'He is a privileged one and at the moment he understands the privilege he has to be training as part of the first team every day,' Mourinho concluded.
