Five transfers Liverpool can complete this week as Barcola green light
Five Liverpool transfers this week with Barcola green light

Liverpool's transfer business could spark into life this week, with the Premier League season set to begin against Newcastle on August 23. So far, Victor Munoz is the club's only signing, arriving from Osasuna for £34.5 million.

The departures of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have left clear gaps in the squad, and the Reds are expected to be active in both directions this week.

Bradley Barcola

The Reds have been in preliminary talks with Barcola's representatives as they seek a deal for the French international. The left winger, who can also operate on the right, is believed to be valued at around £140 million by PSG, the European champions. Liverpool, however, are looking to negotiate the fee down.

PSG's pursuit of Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche and Ajax winger Mika Godts could expedite the move. The Parisian club are thought to want replacements in place before sanctioning Barcola's exit, and the expected double capture could give Liverpool the green light to complete a deal.

Curtis Jones

Inter Milan have renewed their interest in the midfielder and contacted Liverpool over a £30 million deal. That offer still falls short of Liverpool's £35 million valuation. Jones, who has a year left on his contract, has been a target of the Serie A club since the turn of the year.

Intermediaries working on behalf of Inter have been in touch again and have informed Liverpool of the Italian side's willingness to increase their bid. Jones has made 228 appearances since his debut in January 2019, but has been seeking more first-team opportunities.

Federico Chiesa

Talk of a Liverpool exit for Chiesa has gone quiet in recent weeks, but rumours have now resurfaced. FootMercato has reported that Atletico Madrid are interested in signing the 28-year-old forward.

Chiesa joined Liverpool in the summer of 2024 and has scored five goals in 50 appearances. While he has struggled to become a regular starter, the Euro 2020 winner has produced several memorable moments in a Red shirt.

Fikayo Tomori

Italian outlet Tutto Juve claims Liverpool have entered preliminary discussions with AC Milan over former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori. The report states that "discussions are currently still in the early stages and negotiations are not yet advanced." Tomori is contracted until 2027 and moved to Milan from Chelsea five years ago.

The need for a new centre-back has been accelerated by Joe Gomez being sidelined at the start of the season through injury. New arrival Jeremy Jacquet is also yet to feature due to a minor injury, while Ibrahima Konate and Andrew Robertson have departed. Young Italian centre-back Giovanni Leoni and right-back Conor Bradley are also yet to return to pre-season training.

Harvey Elliott

Elliott has been linked with a move away from the Reds all summer. The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he featured only nine times. He has been linked with RB Leipzig in Germany and Leeds United.

The midfielder is hoping the appointment of Iraola could breathe fresh life into his Anfield career. He has started pre-season games under Iraola in the United States and says he is enjoying working for the former Bournemouth boss. However, he admitted that while his focus is on the upcoming season, he "just needs to see what happens," as Liverpool could look to move him on to free up funds.
