Fernandes Backs Man Utd Target Hjulmand as 'Complete Player'

Bruno Fernandes has endorsed the potential signing of Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand by Manchester United, describing him as a 'complete player' who would add intelligence and aggression to the squad. The Portugal international was asked to name Liga Portugal players capable of thriving in the Premier League and highlighted Hjulmand alongside Benfica's Fredrik Aursnes.

Speaking to Canal 11, Fernandes said: 'Morten Hjulmand is a complete player at the moment. He's intelligent, aggressive, and in the Premier League you need that.' The United captain also noted that while Hjulmand would adapt well to English football, he could also succeed in Serie A.

Hjulmand, a Denmark international, was linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window but United opted not to prioritise midfield reinforcements. Reports suggest the club may revisit their interest in the 25-year-old next year, though they are not rushing a January move. Manchester City have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

Fernandes' comments come amid speculation about his own future. He recently suggested the club lacked the resolve to sell him last summer and indicated he would reassess his position after the 2026 World Cup. United, however, have no intention of letting Fernandes leave before the next transfer window closes.
