Manchester United could finalise several deals in the transfer window this week, with the September 1 deadline looming. Among the potential moves are three signings collectively valued at £89 million, as manager Michael Carrick looks to bolster his squad for a Champions League return.
Midfield and defensive targets
Roma midfielder Manu Kone has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Reds reportedly want to add a third midfielder, and the France international, who starred at the World Cup, has emerged as a prime option. Italian publication Corriere dello Sport reported that United have agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old, with Roma seeking up to £51 million (€60 million).
Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi could strengthen the backline. The Colombia international, also a World Cup participant, reportedly wants to join a "big club" this summer. Quotidiano Sportivo claims Bologna are demanding £21.4 million (€25 million) plus £2.6 million (€3 million) in add-ons. Juventus have submitted two offers below that valuation, while Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest are also interested.
Young prospects and outgoings
Racing Santander left-back Jorge Salinas, 19, is considered a top prospect and could offer a long-term succession plan for Luke Shaw. The Spanish club's sporting director Chema Aragon has made clear they won't sell for less than his £13.7 million release clause, adding: "There is nothing we can do if a big star appears." Barcelona also hold interest.
Marcus Rashford could be given another chance to return to Barcelona as Ferran Torres nears a move to PSG. The United star spent last season on loan at the Catalan club, who declined their £26 million buy option. Barcelona's potential sale of Torres might revive their interest, but Carrick has indicated Rashford remains part of his plans: "I've played with him. I played in the game he made his debut, so we have a history. We have a full squad next week in Dublin."
Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with a loan switch to Juventus, with the forward reportedly open to the move. However, United's lack of centre-forward options beyond Benjamin Sesko could delay an exit.
The club are also open to offers for academy trio Harry Amass, Dan Gore, and Toby Collyer, considering loan or permanent moves. Collyer, 22, had loans at West Bromwich Albion and Hull City last term; Gore, 21, spent time at Rotherham United; Amass, 19, was loaned to Sheffield Wednesday before injury cut short a Norwich City spell.
