Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is reportedly ready to leave the club in January, with Serie A sides Inter Milan, Lazio and Atalanta circling, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato. The 28-year-old Italian international has made just two Premier League starts across two seasons under former boss Arne Slot after signing from Juventus in the summer of 2024.
Chiesa's future at Anfield in doubt
Despite being linked with a move away this summer, Chiesa previously said he wanted to stay at the Reds and fight for a spot in the first XI under head coach Andoni Iraola. "Right now, at the moment, I am happy here at Liverpool," Chiesa said. "I love the club, I love the fans, I love everything. I am doing the best I can to have a chance here. And then we will see. At the minute, the only thing I am thinking about is Liverpool."
He added: "I don’t know, it is difficult to say [if this is a fresh start]. It is always a fresh start at the beginning of the year. It is football. This year, let us say it is a new chapter. There is a new manager and I have to focus on that."
However, the Italian winger is yet to feature for the Reds this season, having been ruled out with an injury. He was also left out of the club's official 25-man squad for their Champions League campaign, suggesting his future at Anfield is now in a precarious position.
Ngumoha reveals Salah's advice
Meanwhile, Rio Ngumoha has opened up about the advice he received from Mohamed Salah before the winger left the Reds this summer. Ngumoha became the youngest scorer in the club's history when he bagged a late winner in a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United in August 2025, aged just 16 years and 361 days.
The 18-year-old has since earned his first senior England cap and made five appearances for the Reds so far this season. However, he has found goals and assists hard to come by, with two goals and one assist in 35 senior appearances for the club to date.
"The player who I probably learned the most from is Mohamed Salah, when he was at Liverpool," Ngumoha said. "He taught me a lot, especially towards the back end when he knew he was leaving. He helped me a lot. Like he always says about looking at his numbers and he was always telling me, 'Rio, you know you're a good player but to reach the top, you have to add the goals and assists.'"
"And it will come naturally but he was just going through little things like that [with me]. When he first started [talking to me], it was like, 'Wow! I've been watching you since I was young and you're telling me how to [improve]. Like, you're helping me and you're guiding me.' But then over time, I saw him as a very good team-mate and he was helping me a lot, so I can't thank him much more."
