Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has indicated a busy January transfer window lies ahead, with the club linked to several players from the J-League and beyond. The winter break will offer no respite for the Australian, who is keen to strengthen his squad.
At the top of the list is Yokohama F. Marinos forward Daizen Maeda, a confirmed target with devastating pace and 23 goals this season. Reports suggest he has already arrived in London for a medical, making him a likely early arrival. Midfielder Reo Hatate of Kawasaki Frontale is also close, with an agreement reportedly reached between the clubs. The versatile 24-year-old could fill the void left by injured David Turnbull.
Gamba Osaka's Yosuke Ideguchi, another Japanese midfielder, is said to have a deal well down the line. He would provide depth in the defensive midfield role, competing with Callum McGregor and others. Meanwhile, Dundee United's Jeando Fuchs is out of contract and has attracted enquiries from Celtic and Rangers, as confirmed by his agent.
