Bruno Fernandes has cast doubt on his Manchester United future by revealing he would be open to moves to Spain, Italy and Portugal. The Red Devils captain, who gave an interview to Portuguese media during the recent international break, has clarified his stance on a potential exit.
Speaking to Canal 11, Fernandes said: 'I want to stay at Manchester United as long as I feel desired. I would like to experience the Spanish league and fight for big titles in Italy. I have many connections to Italy... my daughter was born there.' He also expressed a potential return to Portugal, with Sporting being his first option, but added he does not want to 'ruin the image that was left.'
The 31-year-old, who began his career in Italy with Novara, Udinese and Sampdoria before moving to Sporting and then United in January 2020, also left the door open for a future move to Saudi Arabia. 'If one day I have to play in Saudi Arabia, I'll play in Saudi Arabia,' he said, noting the lifestyle change and the growing league.
Fernandes had earlier admitted feeling as though he was being pushed out of the club during the summer transfer window. He stated: 'I told the directors that, but I think they didn't have the courage to make that decision, because the manager wanted me. If I had said I wanted to leave, they would have let me go.'
