Out-of-favour Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is attracting interest from several major European clubs following a slow start to the new season.
Eyebrows were raised when Mikel Arteta sanctioned a £52million move for the England international just over a year ago after the winger’s indifferent spell at Chelsea.
Impressive Debut Season
Madueke made 52 appearances for club and country last season, playing a significant role in Arsenal’s run to the Champions League final and a first Premier League triumph in 22 years, before he featured heavily for England at the World Cup where the Three Lions finished third.
The 24-year-old largely deputised for Bukayo Saka at club and international level and he has been unable to force his way into either Arteta or Thomas Tuchel’s starting XIs this term.
Transfer Interest
Forcing his way ahead of Saka in the pecking order represents a tough challenge, while the emergence of Max Dowman could also threaten the former PSV Eindhoven star’s chances of regular first team football.
According to the Telegraph, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are monitoring Madueke’s situation carefully and other Champions League clubs are expected to join the running were Madueke to be available.
Title Hopes
Madueke and Arsenal will hope to get back to winning ways when domestic football resumes this weekend. Arteta’s side surrendered their 100% start to the new campaign following a shock 3-0 defeat at Brighton last month but former Arsenal star Emmanuel Eboue still believes his old club have a strong chance of retaining the title.
He told Live Football Tickets: ‘Arsenal are my team. This season is going to be very tough because there are so many good teams and good players.
‘But if Arsenal play the way they have been playing, I believe they can win the league.
‘I would give them maybe a 75 per cent chance.’
