Arsenal are unlikely to consider selling Gabriel Martinelli after Galatasaray opened talks regarding a potential switch. The Brazilian forward has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, with Mikel Arteta hoping to sign a new left-winger to replace him in the starting XI.
Galatasaray interest and bid reports
Earlier in the window, it was reported that Galatasaray were interested in bringing Martinelli to Turkey for the 2026/27 campaign. Now, according to football.london, they have reached out to Arsenal to discuss the conditions of a potential move. Reports in Turkey have gone a step further by claiming that a bid of around £34million has already been submitted.
However, it's claimed that Arsenal aren't expected to sanction an exit for Martinelli until they have signed a new left-sided attacker. They were recently linked with a blockbuster move for Real Madrid talisman Vinicius Junior, but the Brazilian has since decided to extend his stay at the Bernabeu.
Arsenal's new signings and Martinelli's stance
Arsenal have already brought in Christos Tzolis, who has featured as the primary starter on the left side throughout pre-season. The Greece international netted on his debut against Girona before providing an assist from a corner in the clash with Real Betis.
Martinelli, meanwhile, is believed to be happy in north London and retains ambitions of competing at the highest level. However, the prospect of regular first-team football, combined with the threat of a second new signing arriving, could alter his thinking.
Arteta hints at more transfer activity
Arteta addressed the media following the clash in Girona, hinting that further transfer activity could be on the horizon in the coming weeks. Bruno Guimaraes was confirmed as a new Arsenal signing over the weekend, yet further deals are still expected.
"We expect to have movements in the next few weeks, obviously," said Arteta. "We want to get better like anybody else, and you just can see the transfer market and our opponents, what we are doing. We won't sit still, and we are very ambitious with what we are doing."
"The margins are very small. Because we want to get better, and the level is going to increase. We need to increase the competition internally. We need to make sure we identify the things that we don't have in the team."
