Arsenal target Konsa and Esposito as Arteta eyes new signings

Arsenal are advancing in their pursuit of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa while also monitoring Inter Milan forward Pio Esposito as a potential alternative to Vinicius Jr. Mikel Arteta's side are preparing for the new Premier League season after winning their first league title in over two decades.

Konsa transfer intensifies

Aston Villa are reportedly 'resigned to losing' Konsa as Arsenal prepare to submit a formal proposal for the 28-year-old. The Gunners' interest in the centre-half has grown following William Saliba's back injury sustained at the World Cup.

Arsenal's initial approach was believed to be just above half of Villa's £60m valuation. According to The Mail, Villa are becoming increasingly concerned that Konsa could depart, with his teammates also worried about his potential exit. Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans have already left the club.

Liverpool, who are dealing with their own defensive issues, could also join the race for Konsa.

Esposito as alternative

Having missed out on Vinicius Jr, Arsenal may compete with Manchester United for Inter Milan's Pio Esposito. The Sun reports that Arsenal scouts attended Inter's pre-season derby against AC Milan to observe the 21-year-old forward.

Esposito, standing at 6ft 3in, has caught Arteta's attention as he looks to bolster attacking options alongside Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz. United are also interested in the young striker.

Inter have publicly labelled Esposito as "untouchable" to deter interested clubs, but it is understood they have discreetly set a £73m asking price should concrete bids emerge, according to Football London.
