Manchester United are exploring a move for Myles Lewis-Skelly as Arsenal put five title-winners up for sale ahead of next month's transfer deadline.
The Red Devils are keen to add to their full-back options before the deadline. Newcastle's Lewis Hall has emerged as a prime target for Michael Carrick, but a deal could be difficult. The Magpies have already lost Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer, while Bruno Guimaraes appears to be on the verge of a move to Arsenal.
United weigh up Lewis-Skelly alternative
That might make a move for Hall considerably more expensive, which has forced United to look at potential alternatives. According to The Independent, Arsenal academy graduate Lewis-Skelly is one of the options being considered. The Red Devils have a long-standing interest in the 19-year-old and are investigating whether a deal is possible this summer.
There was a 'possibility' of a move last term, with the defender out of favour, but he managed to re-establish himself in the first team towards the end of the campaign. As it stands, Lewis-Skelly is one that Arsenal would want to keep, but that situation could change should they complete mega-money deals for Vinicius Jr and Guimaraes.
Arsenal open to offers for five players
There are, however, a number of other players that the North London side would prefer to let go in an attempt to balance the books. It is suggested that Arsenal will listen to offers for Reiss Nelson, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Viktor Gyokeres, while Christian Norgaard looks set for a move to Everton.
On the club's business for the next month, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: "Well, we are really active, trying to improve and evolve the team. That's clear. We expect to have movements in the next few weeks, obviously, because we want to get better like anybody else."
Arteta expects further movement
He added: "Because the margins are very small. And because we want to get better and the level is going to increase, we need to increase the competition internally. We need to make sure we identify the things that we don't have in the team, to have bigger margins. And that's the way we have to think."
Arsenal have already made three signings this summer, with Christos Tzolis and Ilian Meslier having arrived, while Piero Hincapie has been signed permanently. When it comes to the Red Devils, they have also completed three deals for Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow.
