Manchester United are reportedly investigating a move for Myles Lewis-Skelly as Arsenal look to offload five members of their title-winning squad this summer.
The Gunners could be clearing the decks for a double swoop worth around £200m that would land Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Jr. Those arrivals could have a knock-on effect at Old Trafford, with Lewis-Skelly potentially becoming available as Arsenal balance the books.
Lewis-Skelly attracts United interest
According to The Independent, the Red Devils have held a longstanding interest in the 19-year-old and are now 'investigating' whether a deal can be done before the window closes.
Lewis-Skelly was previously linked with a departure after falling out of favour, but he earned his way back into the first team during the second half of the season.
Arsenal would prefer to keep the versatile defender-cum-midfielder, although that position may change if they complete the big-money signings.
Five players available for transfer
The Mirror report that Arsenal will entertain offers for Reiss Nelson, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Viktor Gyokeres. Christian Norgaard is also expected to leave, with Everton the likely destination.
Arteta: "We won't sit still"
Arteta said: "Well, we are really active, trying to improve and evolve the team. That's clear. We expect to have movements in the next few weeks, obviously, because we want to get better like anybody else."
"And you can just see it. The transfer market and our opponents, what we are doing, we won't sit still. And we are very ambitious in what we want to do."
"Because the margins are very small. And because we want to get better and the level is going to increase, we need to increase the competition internally. We need to make sure we identify the things that we don't have in the team, to have bigger margins. And that's the way we have to think."
Three signings already completed
Arsenal have already secured Christos Tzolis, Ilian Meslier and Piero Hincapie on a permanent basis this summer.
