The 2026 summer transfer window is nearly at an end, but there is still time for major deals to be completed. The window will close on Tuesday, September 1, and each of the 20 Premier League clubs are expected to be busy until then.
Some big deals could be in the pipeline, with title chasers Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea anticipated to spend over the final few days. Every club will be keeping an eye out for late deals, with business between Premier League clubs also possible heading into the final hours.
Liverpool and Arsenal target wingers
Following Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool exit, the Reds have needed additions out wide. Bradley Barcola has been consistently linked with a switch to Anfield. The PSG star has asked to leave the Parc des Princes and is now being left out by boss Luis Enrique. Recent reports suggest the two clubs have agreed a deal in principle for the 23-year-old.
Julian Alvarez has made it clear he sees his future away from Atletico Madrid. The situation reached boiling point this week, with the club’s fans loudly jeering the forward, while Atletico chiefs have issued a hands-off warning to domestic rivals Barcelona. Arsenal have remained in the background, with Mikel Arteta keen on a deal but only if Alvarez is open to a move to North London.
Striker moves and goalkeeper interest
Nicolas Jackson, who spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, was not in the squad for Chelsea’s opening day victory against Fulham. With Ollie Watkins on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia, Aston Villa have turned to Jackson as his replacement, and a £65m switch to the Midlands appears close.
Tottenham have signed Savio from Man City, who will be followed by Omar Marmoush. They are also keen on signing Cody Gakpo from Liverpool but will have to fight off interest from City. Gakpo's future might hinge on Liverpool's own move for Barcola.
Robert Sanchez endured another mistake-ridden evening at Craven Cottage, and Chelsea have been offered Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez. The 2022 World Cup winner is expected to leave following the signing of Zion Suzuki.
More potential deals
Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal with Atlanta for defender Honest Ahanor, who has a £34.3m valuation. He could immediately be sent out on loan.
Enzo Fernandez could follow former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca to Stamford Bridge, with City having a long-standing interest in the Argentine midfielder. They missed a deadline to make a bid earlier this month, but a late-window offer is being considered.
Jack Grealish, whose loan spell with Everton was cut short by injury, has options. Sunderland have made an approach to City over a loan deal, while Aston Villa and Everton are also interested.
Aston Villa were close to a move for Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez, but Crystal Palace have accelerated a move following Chadi Riad’s injury. El Hadji Malick Diouf, whose first season ended in relegation to the Championship, has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Brentford interested. A £40m deal is in the offing, and he has been cleared to undergo a medical.
