The stage is set for a thrilling fortnight of tennis at Flushing Meadows as the 2024 US Open draw has been revealed, presenting both opportunities and stern tests for Britain's leading hopes, Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu.
Jack Draper, fresh off his first ATP Tour title and now the British No. 1, faces a challenging start against former world No. 3 and 2021 finalist, Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece. This mouth-watering first-round clash is one of the standout ties of the opening round, pitting Draper's powerful left-handed game against the experienced Tsitsipas in what promises to be a brutal test of his title credentials.
Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu has been handed a seemingly kinder draw. The 2021 champion will take on a qualifier in her first match, offering a valuable chance to build momentum early in the tournament. All eyes will be on the 21-year-old as she aims to recapture the magic of her fairytale run three years ago.
The draw has also set a potential blockbuster path for the other British contenders. Cameron Norrie is slated to face a qualifier, while Dan Evans will battle it out with Czech player Tomas Machac. In the women's draw, Katie Boulter begins her campaign against Tatjana Maria of Germany.
At the top of the men's draw, defending champion Novak Djokovic begins his quest for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title against Russian player Aleksandar Kovacevic. The Serbian legend's path could see a semi-final showdown with Italian Jannik Sinner.
In the women's singles, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek starts against an as-yet-unknown qualifier, while American favourite Coco Gauff will also face a qualifier in her opening match as she looks to defend her title on home soil.
The action at the final Grand Slam of the year kicks off on Monday, 26th August at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
