Sassuolo Join Bologna in Talks for £10m Kieron Bowie as Celtic Interest Cools
Sassuolo, Bologna Battle for £10m Kieron Bowie; Celtic Out

Sassuolo have become the latest Serie A side to hold talks with Hellas Verona over a potential deal for £10 million-rated striker Kieron Bowie. The 23-year-old Scotland international is attracting significant interest after a strong start to his Italian top-flight career.

Interest from Multiple Serie A Clubs

Sassuolo have joined rivals Bologna in negotiations with Verona for the forward. Both clubs are keen to secure his services, with Sassuolo particularly eager to add to their Scottish contingent. They previously signed Josh Doig from Verona in 2024, and Bowie would be another addition from the same club.

Bologna have a long-standing interest in Bowie, dating back to his time at Hibernian. They have a history of signing Scottish talent, including Aaron Hickey and current captain Lewis Ferguson, who has been the subject of an approach from Rangers this summer.

Celtic Interest and Bundesliga Links

Celtic have been linked with Bowie, but according to sources, there has been no recent contact between the clubs. There is also significant interest from the Bundesliga, but again, no recent negotiations have taken place.

Bowie's form has made him a hot property after his breakout in Serie A. In just four months in the Italian top-flight, he contributed four goals and an assist, despite playing for a Verona side that struggled and was eventually relegated to Serie B.

Transfer Details and Sell-On Clause

Verona are open to selling Bowie but are seeking a significant uplift on the £6 million they paid Hibs to sign him in January. Hibs are entitled to a sell-on clause as part of the original deal, which could see them benefit from any future transfer.

Bowie's omission from Steve Clarke's Scotland squad for the ill-fated World Cup campaign was a surprise given his form. He remains a Scotland international and is expected to be part of future squads.

Clubs' Ambitions

Sassuolo finished comfortably in mid-table last season and are looking to add more firepower for the new campaign. Bologna have also held a long-term interest in Bowie and see him as a key target to strengthen their attack.
