Aryna Sabalenka's Grand Slam Engagement: Inside the Custom 12-Carat Ring
World No.1 tennis champion Aryna Sabalenka has been presented with a breathtaking engagement ring by her partner, Brazilian businessman Georgios Frangulis. The surprise proposal occurred on Wednesday, with Frangulis getting down on one knee to offer a magnificent oval-cut diamond ring that has now been revealed in all its glory.
The Masterpiece Design Process
Isabela Grutman, CEO and Founder of ISA Grutman Jewelry, has exclusively disclosed the intricate details of the custom-made piece to the Daily Mail. The ring features a stunning oval-cut diamond weighing over 12 carats, set in platinum with elegant emerald accents incorporated throughout the design.
'I've always admired their love and relationship, so I was incredibly flattered when Georgios asked me to design this piece,' Grutman stated. 'We spent months working on the design, selecting the stones, and perfecting every detail of the craftsmanship to make it truly special for Aryna.'
The jeweler emphasized the personal significance of the emerald accents, explaining: 'What made it even more meaningful was Georgios' idea to incorporate emeralds into the design, as it's her favorite stone - a personal touch that makes the ring uniquely hers.'
Valuation and Diamond Trends
Rustin Yasavolian, CEO at Masina Diamonds, has estimated the ring's value could range between $500,000 and $800,000. For perspective, Kris Jenner's rumored heart-cut engagement ring is believed to be approximately 10 carats according to Page Six reports.
Yasavolian noted the growing popularity of oval diamonds in recent years: 'The oval diamond has been the most popular shape for the past two to five years because of its elongated shape. The beauty of oval diamonds is that they look larger than their carat weight compared to round diamonds. Their large silhouette takes up a lot of real estate on the finger.'
The Romantic Proposal Setting
Frangulis orchestrated a picturesque outdoor proposal surrounded by beautiful floral bouquets and tall pillar candles near a candlelit swimming pool decorated with flowers. Sabalenka, wearing casual light-wash jeans and a white t-shirt, was completely taken by surprise.
The tennis star captured her emotional reaction in an Instagram video, showing her covering her mouth in shock while wiping tears from her eyes. The massive diamond sparkled brilliantly as it caught the light during the heartfelt moment.
On her Instagram stories, Sabalenka humorously revealed: 'Well, I obviously had NO idea this was happening tonight,' alongside a close-up photograph of the impressive ring.
Celebrity Congratulations and Relationship Background
The engagement announcement drew congratulatory messages from tennis legend Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena, Hollywood actress Eiza Gonzalez, and men's tennis star Ben Shelton. Fans had been speculating about an impending engagement for months, particularly after Sabalenka dropped a significant hint during her victory speech at the Brisbane International tournament in January.
During that speech, she told her boyfriend: 'Hopefully soon I'll call you somehow else, right?' prompting laughter from the crowd before adding: 'I just put on extra pressure, right?' Frangulis was photographed smiling and laughing in the stands during this exchange.
In July 2024, Sabalenka described Frangulis as the 'love of my life' following a holiday they took together after injury forced her withdrawal from Wimbledon. The Brazilian entrepreneur is the founder of superfood brand Oakberry, which has sponsored the Haas F1 team and formed a partnership with Sabalenka after their romance began.
Frangulis studied law before becoming an entrepreneur and maintains a strong interest in motorsport, having competed in 128 races of Brazil's Porsche 911 GT3 Cup competition. Sabalenka's previous relationship ended tragically when her ex-boyfriend, Konstantin Koltsov, died after jumping from a hotel balcony in Miami in 2024.
Currently, Sabalenka is competing in the prestigious Indian Wells tennis tournament in Riverside County, California, where she continues to showcase her championship form while celebrating this new chapter in her personal life.
