Linda Noskova, the newly crowned Wimbledon champion, has admitted she has 'had enough' of her trophy just three weeks after winning her maiden Grand Slam title. The world No. 7, who defeated Karolina Muchova 6-2 5-7 6-3 in the final, revealed that the Venus Rosewater Dish replica is now on display in her living room.
Trophy's new home
While the original Wimbledon trophies remain at the All England Club, champions receive a replica. Noskova took hers home and has placed it in her living room, where she can see it whenever she wants. 'I love my trophy, but I've had enough of it for some time now. It's in my living room, yeah, it's on the display. I'm looking at it whenever I can, so it's there,' she said.
First tournament since triumph
Noskova is currently competing at the Canadian Open, her first tournament since her Wimbledon victory. Reflecting on the past few weeks, she mentioned a busy media schedule in Czech Republic, but also found time for a vacation in Italy and to see her family.
Both Noskova and Muchova met the president of Czechia after returning home from Wimbledon, with the champion bringing her trophy replica to the meeting.
Looking ahead
Despite the whirlwind experience, Noskova is focused on the future. 'It's something that I have always worked for, that I have played my tennis my whole life for. It did take me, I would say like a week, maybe 10 days, to actually realise it. Maybe I will not realise it a hundred per cent, you know?' she said.
She added: 'I had to tell myself that, like I said, it is not the end of the world. My career is not ending here, it is hopefully only starting. Winning a Grand Slam is, you know, an unreal thing. But at the same time, I'm still 21, I feel like since I accomplished this so soon, I feel like it's even a bigger motivation for me to keep going.'
