Mika Baur is understood to have agreed personal terms on a move to Celtic as the Hoops close in on a new midfielder.
Baur's standout season
Baur, capped by Germany at U21 level, was a standout for Paderborn last season as they gained promotion to the Bundesliga. The 22-year-old was instrumental across a number of midfield positions, scoring four and assisting six as they made the playoffs and beat Wolfsburg over two legs.
Bundesliga interest rejected
Stuttgart considered a move for Baur in January while Schalke attempted to land him earlier this month but both advances were rebuffed. Other top Bundesliga clubs have been credited with an interest but sources in Germany now indicate Celtic have made their move and the player has agreed terms on a move to Parkhead.
Agent connection and negotiations
Baur is signed to the same agency as Nicolas Kuhn and instrumented his move from Rapid Vienna in 2024. Negotiations with Paderborn are ongoing and the exact terms of the offer Celtic are putting forward are unclear at this stage.
Celtic's midfield needs
Martin O'Neill is already light on midfield options and could yet lose Arne Engels amid interest in the Belgian. Baur would be a major boost and could become their second summer signing after Camilo Duran.
