Manchester United confirm three departures as Marcus Rashford decision made
Man Utd confirm Casemiro, Sancho, Malacia exits; Rashford returns

Manchester United have confirmed the departures of Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia, but Marcus Rashford is due to return to the club this summer after a one-season loan at Barcelona.

The Red Devils have now confirmed their retained list for the 2025/26 campaign, reiterating the already-announced departures of Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia when their contracts come to an end this summer.

Confirmation of Sancho's departure is not unexpected. The Briton has not made a competitive appearance for United since August 2023 after falling well out of favour at the club. He has since served loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Sancho won the Europa League with Aston Villa this season. His future remains in flux as he enters free agency, though he has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga. Casemiro, meanwhile, is said to be closing in on a move to Inter Miami.

But as United plough ahead in their summer transfer dealings, a new item has been added to their to-do list in the form of Rashford. The left-winger spent last season on loan at Barcelona and impressed as he helped the Blaugrana to a domestic double, but his future with the club has been thrown into doubt after they spent £70m on Anthony Gordon, who plays the same position.

Rashford's contract contained a €30m (£25.8m) buy option, which Barcelona have now opted out of paying, per reporting from Fabrizio Romano. They had previously attempted to negotiate the buy option down closer to €15m, but United would not budge on their valuation.

Barcelona are, however, said to be open to another loan move, which would pit Rashford against his England team-mate Gordon in a battle for supremacy on the left flank. His future may not be decided until the culmination of England's World Cup campaign, which gets underway next week.
