Londoners erupted with relief and celebration after England secured a hard-fought World Cup 2-1 quarter-final victory over Norway in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Fans Take to the Streets
Supporters across the capital poured onto the streets after leaving pubs, with some singing “it’s coming home” while others danced and celebrated. At Clapham Junction, police escorted supporters away from the streets as they made their way back to Tube and railway stations to head home.
In central London, crowds brought traffic to a standstill, climbing traffic lights and singing well into the early hours.
