Katie Boulter Celebrates Hen Do Ahead of Summer Wedding to Alex de Minaur
Katie Boulter's Hen Do Before Wedding to Alex de Minaur

British tennis star Katie Boulter has been delighting in her pre-wedding celebrations, hosting a traditional hen do ahead of her forthcoming marriage to fellow tennis professional Alex de Minaur this summer. The high-profile sporting couple, who have been in a relationship since 2020, publicly announced their engagement in December 2024 via a social media post that showcased Boulter wearing a magnificent engagement ring on her wedding finger.

Festive Preparations for the Big Day

In January, Boulter disclosed that the wedding is scheduled to take place in the middle of this year at a European location. As part of the preparations, she has been participating in the customary hen do, a celebration involving the key female figures in a wedding party gathering for festivities shortly before the ceremony. Former British tennis player Laura Robson shared a series of images on Instagram this Sunday, depicting a group of women apparently on a weekend getaway, with Boulter prominently featured wearing a white dress and a bridal veil.

Memorable Moments from the Celebration

One particularly charming photograph captured the 29-year-old Boulter relaxing in a hot tub, her veil adorned with the playful phrase: 'Mrs De Minaur to be.' The celebratory atmosphere was further enhanced by a cake inscribed with the words 'Marriage material,' and a black dog dressed in formal attire, positioned beside balloons that proudly declared 'team bride.' The gathering included notable tennis personalities such as Robson, Jodie Burrage, and Freya Christie, all of whom attended to honour the bride-to-be.

Robson posted an extensive collection of photos to her Instagram account, prompting Boulter to comment enthusiastically: 'Best weekend ever.' Robson responded affectionately: 'Literally smiling at my phone.' The images also featured Boulter posing alongside Robson and the adorned dog, who sported a bow tie, with various decorative elements visible in the background.

A Relationship Forged on the Tennis Circuit

The couple's romance began after they initially met on the professional tennis tour. Their connection deepened during a chance encounter at six in the morning while both were out for coffee, an experience Boulter has cited as the moment she realised de Minaur was her lifelong partner. 'We bumped into each other at six in the morning and ended up getting a coffee. From that moment, I knew I was in it for the long haul,' Boulter previously told The Age.

She added warmly: 'He is amazing, he continues to impress me every day of my life. It's been almost six years now with him and it's an inspiration to me as a player and a person as well that he's doing so well, and I feel like he's playing better and better every time I see him.' Their engagement announcement in late 2024 thrilled fans, featuring an Instagram snapshot with Boulter's left arm around the neck of her 27-year-old fiancé, captioned: 'We’ve been keeping a small secret…'

Overcoming Challenges Together

Earlier this year, the couple faced unexpected adversity when they were among the individuals caught up in the turmoil that erupted in Mexico, where they were due to participate in a tennis event. The chaos ensued following the death of Nemesio 'El Mencho' Oseguera Cervantes, Mexico's most wanted man and leader of the feared Jalisco New Generation cartel, during a security operation. Members of the cartel, which plays a significant role in trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl to the United States, retaliated by setting vehicles ablaze, constructing roadblocks, and clashing with security forces across eight states.

Despite these challenges, Boulter and de Minaur have remained focused on their personal and professional lives, with their upcoming wedding symbolising a joyous milestone. As Boulter continues her preparations, the hen do serves as a heartfelt prelude to the summer nuptials, celebrating the union of two of tennis's most admired figures.
