Jack Grealish has stated he is close to returning to full training after a lengthy absence due to a stress fracture in his foot, a development that could influence Everton's pursuit of the playmaker.
Grealish's Injury and Recovery Timeline
The 30-year-old has been sidelined since January, when a stress fracture was discovered shortly after he helped Everton secure a victory at Aston Villa. The injury required surgery, and Grealish has spent the summer undergoing rehabilitation. He returned to light training earlier this summer and has been documenting his progress on social media.
On Monday night, Grealish shared images of himself working out at parent club Manchester City, who began pre-season last week. He wrote: “Nice to see everyone, am nearly there! Hopefully not long now till back training for good.”
Everton's Interest and Loan Prospects
Everton are reportedly open to securing Grealish's return, contingent on his recovery and Manchester City's willingness to let him leave on loan. During his loan spell with Everton before the injury, Grealish scored two late match-winning goals and provided six assists in the first half of the season, becoming a fan favorite. Manager David Moyes was impressed by his contributions.
Everton's preference is a loan deal, but any move depends on whether Manchester City can recoup a fee elsewhere in the transfer market and on the success of Grealish's recovery. The player opted to remain at Everton through the end of his loan contract, completing the first six months of rehabilitation at Finch Farm.
