Graham Potter has fully embraced American culture as Sweden prepares for their World Cup opener. The former Chelsea and West Ham manager, now in charge of the Swedish national team, was spotted wearing a ten-gallon cowboy hat during an open training session in Dallas, Texas.
Potter's Bold New Look
The Blagult side is currently in a training camp in north Texas ahead of facing the Netherlands, Tunisia, and Japan in the group stages. The heat has been a major talking point, but Potter, born and raised in Solihull, has taken local advice to shield himself from the sun. The Swedish national team's X account posted a photo with the caption: "There's a new sheriff in town."
Fans had mixed reactions on social media. One wrote: "What the hell is that?" while another commented: "If you had told me two years ago that Graham Potter was managing Sweden in the World Cup and would be on the field in Frisco, Texas, in a Cowboy hat... I would've said you're crazy." A third fan added: "Howdy cowboy," and a fourth remarked: "Your man's got his swagger back."
Potter's Journey to the World Cup
Potter took charge of Sweden in October 2025 after difficult spells at Chelsea and West Ham, both ending in sackings. He quickly turned around Sweden's World Cup qualifying campaign, which had started poorly under Jon Dahl Tomasson. In an interview with the Guardian, Potter described managing at the tournament as a dream come true: "My first football memories are '86, 11 years old, watching Diego Maradona rip football up. As a kid, that's where I started. To get the chance to work in that environment, it's just a dream."
