Everton Close on Tyrique George and Hayden Hackney Deals
Everton Close on George and Hackney Transfers

Everton are on the verge of securing two major signings, with talks progressing for Chelsea winger Tyrique George and Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney. The moves would bolster David Moyes' squad as the club looks to build on their recent form.

Tyrique George Deal Nears Completion

George made 11 appearances for Everton last season after joining on loan from Chelsea in February. That loan included an option to buy the England Under-21 international for £25m, but the club did not activate it. However, manager David Moyes remains keen to sign the 20-year-old. Talks over the structure of a deal have advanced this week, with an agreement close. Everton would pay less than the £25m up front, but Chelsea would receive close to their original asking price through add-ons.

Hayden Hackney Breakthrough

A similar proposal has led to a breakthrough in Everton's pursuit of Hayden Hackney. Middlesbrough had been seeking £25m for the midfielder, who has only one year remaining on his contract. Crystal Palace also showed interest, but Everton have agreed to pay a guaranteed £16.5m, rising to £25m with add-ons. Hackney, named Championship player of the season for 2025-26, is expected to have a medical in the coming days and become an Everton player by the end of the week.
