Manchester City have officially appointed Enzo Maresca as their new manager, replacing Pep Guardiola after his decade-long tenure. The 46-year-old Italian has signed a three-year contract that runs until the summer of 2029, marking his third stint at the club.
Maresca's Return to the Etihad
Maresca had been out of management since leaving Chelsea earlier this year. He previously worked as part of Guardiola's backroom staff and managed City's Under-21 side. His managerial career includes leading Leicester City to Championship promotion in 2024 and guiding Chelsea to a Conference League title and the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup.
In a statement, City said: "Manchester City are delighted to confirm the appointment of Enzo Maresca as manager. The Italian has signed a three-year contract until summer 2029. For Maresca it will mark his third spell at the Club, and he arrives armed with a wealth of experience and success at elite level."
Two Major Transfers in the Pipeline
City are already lining up significant reinforcements. The club is close to completing the permanent signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116 million. The England international has reportedly completed a medical in the United States. Additionally, Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto has emerged as a target, which would reunite him with Maresca after their time together at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca's appointment ends weeks of speculation following Guardiola's departure at the end of last season. The new manager will aim to build on City's recent dominance in English and European football.
