Dan Evans will retire from professional tennis this summer. The British star, currently ranked as the nation's No. 10, made the announcement in an emotional statement shared on Instagram alongside photos from his career.
Career Highlights
Evans, a former world No. 21, won two ATP Tour titles during his career, including the prestigious ATP 500 event in Washington. He also represented Great Britain in both the Davis Cup and the Olympics. Two years ago, he partnered with Andy Murray in the men's doubles at the Paris 2024 Games, marking Murray's own retirement.
Emotional Farewell
At 36 years old, Evans confirmed he will hang up his racket after this year's Wimbledon championships. In his statement, he wrote: "After an incredible journey, I wanted to share some personal news with you all. I will be retiring from professional tennis following this year's Wimbledon championships."
He added: "This sport has given me everything. The friendships, the experiences, the battles and even the hard days were special in hindsight. I have loved every single minute of being a professional tennis player."
Gratitude and Final Tournaments
Evans thanked his family, coaches, trainers, physios, sponsors, and team members for their support. He described representing Great Britain in the Davis Cup and Olympics as "the greatest honour of my career." Looking ahead, he said: "I'm looking forward to finishing on a high across these final two tournaments and giving everything I have one last time. Thank you for the support. Evo."
