Former Plymouth Argyle team-mate Hasney Aljofree has reassured fans that Akos Buzsaky is 'doing alright' after the ex-Premier League midfielder was reported missing in Hungary.
Buzsaky, 44, made 105 appearances for Plymouth Argyle between 2005 and 2007 after joining from Portuguese club Porto. He later played in the Premier League for Queens Park Rangers and earned 20 caps for Hungary.
Team-mate's social media update
Aljofree, who played alongside Buzsaky at Argyle, posted an update on Facebook on Wednesday evening (August 26). He wrote: "For all concerned. Akos is ok. He's alive and doing alright. I have no more information only that to pass this on to everyone who has been worried about him."
Hungarian Police have yet to verify Aljofree's comments, according to Plymouth Live.
Police search since August 18
Police records in Hungary say officers have been looking for Buzsaky, a former Hungary international, since August 18. According to French outlet L'Équipe, the mother of Buzsaky's two children raised concerns about his whereabouts and is believed to have contacted police.
Buzsaky reportedly no longer lives with the mother and spends much of his time working abroad.
Father's response
Local news outlet Blikk contacted Buzsaky's father, Ákos Buzsáky Sr, who said he had not been informed of his son's disappearance. He told the outlet: "I didn’t know that the police were also looking for my son. He basically spends a lot of time in Greece, where he works as a construction contractor."
"He spent almost the entire last year there. Since we don’t live under the same roof, it’s not surprising that we only speak less often. The last time I spoke to him was last week, when he was at home."
Both Plymouth Argyle and Queens Park Rangers had earlier shared messages about Buzsaky on their official accounts on Wednesday. Argyle said: "We are concerned to hear that Ákos Buzsáky has been reported missing. Everybody at Plymouth Argyle is hoping that Ákos is found safe soon." QPR added: "The club are concerned to learn that R's favourite Akos Buzsaky has been reported missing. We're all praying he's found safe and well."
