Tiger Woods Arrested Following Dramatic Florida Car Crash

Golf icon Tiger Woods has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI and refusal to submit to a urine test after a serious two-vehicle rollover crash occurred near his Jupiter, Florida residence on Friday afternoon. The incident unfolded around 2 p.m. Eastern Time, sending shockwaves through the sports world.

Crash Scene Photographs Reveal Disturbing Details

A recently released photograph from the crash site shows Tiger Woods standing beside the wreckage of his overturned Range Rover, apparently making a phone call in the immediate aftermath of the collision. The image captures the 50-year-old golfer on a patch of grass adjacent to his toppled vehicle, with an untouched fire hydrant visible nearby.

According to local sheriff John Budensiek, Woods was driving northbound on a two-lane road when a pickup truck towing a pressure cleaner trailer attempted to slow down and turn into a driveway. Due to Woods traveling at "high speeds" in his Range Rover, the pickup truck driver couldn't fully exit the roadway. In what authorities described as a late attempt to overtake, the 15-time major champion struck the trailer, causing his vehicle to flip onto its side.

Police Investigation Uncovers Impairment Evidence

Following the collision, Woods reportedly managed to scramble out of the passenger door of his overturned Range Rover. When emergency services arrived at the crash site, DUI investigators quickly determined that Woods appeared impaired.

"Our DUI investigators came to the scene here, and Mr. Woods did exemplify signs of impairment," Sheriff Budensiek stated during an impromptu press conference on Friday afternoon. "They did several tests on him. Of course, he did explain the injuries and the surgeries that he had. We did take that into account. But they did do some in-depth roadside tests. And when it was determined, he was placed under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail."

Authorities emphasized that Woods' impaired condition appeared to stem from medication rather than alcohol consumption. "At the Martin County Jail, and even on scene, we really weren't suspicious of alcohol being involved in this case," Budensiek explained. "And that proved to be true at the jail. So Mr. Woods did a breathalyzer test, blew triple zeros. But when it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused. And so he's been charged with DUI, with property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test."

Excessive Speed Suspected in Violent Collision

While Sheriff Budensiek couldn't specify exactly how fast Woods was traveling when the crash occurred, he indicated the golfer was moving significantly above the posted 30 mph speed limit. The violent nature of the collision left clear evidence at the scene.

"He didn't roll completely over. The truck rolled to the driver's door and then just slid northbound up the road," Budensiek observed. "It's a 30-mile-an-hour speed limit. And when I show you the photos, they kind of speak for themselves. You can see where he clipped the back of the trailer. You can see where he rolled. And then as he decelerates, sliding down on the driver's door of the vehicle, you can see that he slid for a pretty decent space before he came to a stop."

The crash marks another troubling chapter for the golf legend, who has faced numerous health challenges and previous traffic incidents throughout his storied career. Woods was processed at the Martin County Jail on the misdemeanor charges, with the investigation continuing as authorities examine all aspects of the Friday afternoon incident.
