The British & Irish Lions suffered a comprehensive 22-12 defeat to Australia in the third Test in Sydney, with Wallabies scrum-half Nic White delivering a masterful performance in his final Test appearance. The torrential rain suited the home side, who outmuscled and outthought the Lions in a series-deciding victory.
White, awarded a 9/10 rating, controlled the game with his kicking and tempo-setting, while also engaging in pantheon-level gamesmanship against the Lions' scrum-half. Dylan Pietsch opened the scoring with a dazzling diving finish and earned a 9/10 rating for his all-round aggression in attack and defence. The Wallabies' forward pack, led by Nick Frost and Will Skelton (both 8/10), transformed their lineout and dominated the scrum, unsettling the Lions throughout.
For the Lions, Bundee Aki endured a torrid afternoon, penalised in key moments, dropping balls, and easily marshalled by the Wallabies defence, earning a 4/10 rating. The pack struggled, with Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan, and Tadhg Furlong all rated 5/10 as they lost the physical battle. Finn Russell and Jamison Gibson-Park also failed to impose themselves, with the latter's quiet authority shouted down by White's performance.
Australia's replacements, particularly Tate McDermott (8/10), maintained the intensity, while the Lions could not recover from a disjointed first half. The defeat marks a disappointing end to the Lions' tour, as the Wallabies claimed the series 2-1.
