Reuben Logan, the son of television presenter Gabby Logan, has been making waves in rugby. The young forward is currently signed to Sale Sharks in the Premiership and has represented England at youth level. However, in January 2025, he switched his international allegiance to Scotland, joining their U20 Six Nations squad and making his debut that year.
Family Ties and International Options
Reuben's father, Kenny Logan, is a former Scotland international winger with 70 caps over 11 years, including the 2003 World Cup. This heritage made his switch to Scotland understandable. Yet, intriguingly, he could still return to England or even opt for Wales, given his Welsh roots through Gabby's father, Terry Yorath, a Welsh football legend.
Welsh Persuasion at the Funeral
At her father's funeral earlier this year, Gabby revealed that some Welsh attendees tried to persuade Reuben to switch to Wales. She remarked: "I'm very proud of my Welsh heritage and recently we lost my dad. We had a lot of Welsh people at the service and a fantastic choir came up from Cardiff and there was 50 of them and they'd had a pint or two and were asking Reuben if he'd consider switching allegiances."
Father's Dilemma
Gabby also shared that her husband struggled to cheer for Reuben when he played for England's youth teams. She added: "Kenny was not quite sure how to cheer for him that day. He used to just shout, 'come on Reuben' and I'm like, 'you can't just say come on Reuben' and he was like, 'I can't say come on England'."
It remains to be seen which country Reuben will ultimately represent at senior level.
