Conor McGregor has told his wife Dee Devlin she is in for a big Saturday night after the fighter abstained from sex ahead of his UFC comeback. The former two-weight champion will fight for the first time in five years when he takes on Max Holloway at UFC 329 in Las Vegas on Saturday night. McGregor was last seen in the cage when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight in 2021.
Abstention from Sex During Camp
McGregor revealed this week that he has abstained from sex during camp for the first time. “If I didn’t have the fire or the hunger, yet I’m up against one of the most active bodies in the fight game in Max Holloway,” he said when asked if he still has the desire to fight. “I just think it’s silly to say this. The challenge is colossal. It is a colossal challenge ahead of me that I am entering with supreme confidence.”
“I’ve practiced abstaining also in this camp – it’s the first time I’ve ever done it – from any type of physical touch, if you will. And that’s been intense. I’m excited to see what it brings on Saturday night. We’re going to have a good night Saturday, all across the board,” McGregor added.
Rematch Against Max Holloway
McGregor will face Holloway for a second time having outpointed the Hawaiian when the pair were featherweights in 2013. McGregor injured his knee in their first meeting but did enough to convince the judges - and is confident he can do so again. “I put my big paws - I put my big Irish paws - on his face,” he added. “I 'sonned' the boy. I faced a devastating injury - a career-ending injury happened to me in that bout which changed my entire approach to fighting, with the ACL tear and the meniscus tear.”
“It was the first time I'd ever experienced something like that, but I beat him, and I'm going to beat him again on Saturday night, for sure,” McGregor said.
