Bottas taken to hospital after Mexican GP crash

Valtteri Bottas was taken to a medical centre after crashing out of the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday. The Finnish driver's car hit the barrier at turn one when his suspension appeared to break, following a front-left tyre burst at the end of the straight in Mexico City.

Bottas escaped the incident unharmed, but was taken to a nearby hospital for further assessment. The crash prompted an immediate response from race control, with a safety car deployed before the race was halted by a red flag, forcing drivers back into the pit-lane.

FIA safety procedures

Under FIA safety procedures, a driver is automatically taken to the circuit medical centre if an impact registers at 15 Gs or greater. The 37-year-old's condition was not specified beyond the standard assessment process.

The incident occurred on lap 45 of the race, which was suspended as a result. Further updates on Bottas's condition and the race outcome are expected to follow.
