Professional wrestler Stuart Smith, known as 'Syko Stu', has been hospitalised after a brutal attack by Raja Jackson, son of former UFC champion Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson. The incident occurred at a KnokX Pro Wrestling show in California earlier this month.
Jackson entered the ring and slammed Smith to the canvas, knocking him unconscious, before unleashing a prolonged barrage of punches. Smith, a military veteran, was eventually pulled off by others and the attack is under investigation by Los Angeles police.
Smith's partner, Contessa Patterson, provided an update on his condition, stating he sustained a serious head injury, trauma to both jaws, a laceration to his upper lip, a fractured maxilla bone, and lost several teeth. He has been released from hospital and is recovering at home.
The attack reportedly stemmed from a misunderstanding before the show. Smith, in character, hit Jackson with an empty can, but later apologised when told Jackson was not part of the show. An agreement was made for a staged confrontation, but Jackson's attack went beyond what was planned.
Quinton Jackson apologised for his son's actions, expressing concern for Smith's health. Raja Jackson was banned from streaming platform Kick following the incident. Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer called it 'the worst thing I think I've ever seen in the ring', while YouTuber Mr Beast offered to help with recovery costs.
