Swansea's Eustaquio sent for X-ray after shoulder 'crack'

Swansea City midfielder Stephen Eustaquio was forced off at half-time during Wednesday morning's clash with rivals USA after hearing a 'crack' in his shoulder. The 29-year-old is now set to be assessed by the club following an X-ray at hospital.

Injury concern during USA defeat

USA won the match 1-0, with Justin Ellis scoring the only goal. Eustaquio, who joined Swansea from Porto this summer, has become a key player under manager Vitor Matos.

Speaking after the game, USA head coach Jesse Marsch revealed: "He felt a crack in his shoulder, so we're hopeful that it's not bad, but it's possible that it is — he's at the hospital getting an X-ray — so it's possible that it's a broken clavicle or something like that."

Key player for Matos

Eustaquio has made six league appearances for Swansea so far and scored his first goal for the club in the 2-1 win over Lincoln City before the recent international break. Losing him would be a blow, with the Swans set to return to action at home to Norwich City on Saturday, sitting top of the league.

Reports in the Canadian press have since claimed the injury is not believed to be serious, although it remains to be seen whether he will still require time off.

Potential boost for Swansea

Matos is already without defensive duo Cameron Burgess and Josh Key heading into the next run of games. However, a video posted on social media by the club appeared to show striker Ross Stewart back in action with the group, having spent recent weeks recovering from a quad injury.
