In a devastating blow for the competition, Drag Race UK star La Voix has been forced to completely withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing 2025 due to an injury. The news was confirmed to viewers during Saturday's live show from the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
Medical Advice Forces Exit
Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman delivered the unfortunate update, explaining that following advice from the show's medical experts, the 45-year-old performer could no longer continue. Speaking at the start of the episode, Daly stated, "Now, as you may have heard, La Voix sustained an injury, meaning that she can't dance in Blackpool tonight, and following further advice from our medical team, we can now confirm she has very sadly had to withdraw from the competition."
La Voix, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, had previously expressed her devastation, saying, "I've been advised that I'm unable to perform, and my heart truly breaks knowing I won't be dancing in such an iconic venue." She was paired with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec.
Impact on the Competition
The Strictly withdrawal meant that only six of the seven remaining couples competed during the special Blackpool week. In a consequential decision, the hosts confirmed that there would be no elimination and therefore no dance-off. The scores from this week's performances will carry over to the next episode, meaning all remaining couples will return to dance again.
A Strictly spokesperson had previously confirmed that La Voix would have automatically progressed to the next round had she been fit to continue. The star was seen in the audience at Blackpool, supporting her fellow contestants.
A Second Contestant Lost to Injury
This marks the second time this series that a contestant has been forced to leave due to physical injury. In October, Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis, 66, withdrew from the competition after sustaining a calf injury.
Winkleman concluded the announcement by reminding viewers, "We will be speaking to La Voix on tomorrow night's show, we love you so, so much." Fans of the beloved performer will now have to wait to see her final interview on the programme.
