Strictly Come Dancing favourite La Voix has delivered a painful health update after a foot injury forced her to pull out of the show's iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom episode.
The Injury That Forced A Withdrawal
The 45-year-old drag performer, competing with professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec, revealed doctors advised complete rest for an ongoing foot problem. This medical advice meant the pair had to withdraw from one of Strictly's most anticipated events of the season.
Appearing on It Takes Two on Wednesday, November 19, La Voix—real name Chris Dennis—explained the issue began during their foxtrot. "I felt a little niggle in my foot hence comments about me being flat-footed," she shared. "I was thinking this will be fine, but it got gradually worse."
From Heels to 'Awful Flat Shoes'
The situation deteriorated until last Saturday when La Voix could no longer wear heels. "I had to wear those awful flat shoes," the performer confessed. Attempts to rehearse on Monday proved the injury was too severe to continue.
"We tried on Monday and it was really clear I was struggling in pain," La Voix explained. "So we decided to be professional and call this, hoping with some rest I can be back."
Automatic Qualification and Hopes for Return
Under Strictly Come Dancing rules, the couple will receive a bye through to next week's round, buying crucial recovery time. When asked about returning after the Blackpool special, La Voix responded: "I hope so. Some people have said online that it's just because I wanted to get out of doing the samba. I was desperate to get to Blackpool and do the samba."
In an earlier BBC statement, La Voix expressed her devastation: "My heart truly breaks knowing I won't be dancing in such an iconic venue. I am devastated not to be joining the rest of the cast on that famous dancefloor, but my focus now is on recovery."
The performer also addressed followers directly on Instagram, acknowledging she must "listen to her body" after the injury failed to improve. She promised a triumphant return, vowing to come back "louder, brighter, and sassier than ever."
A Strictly spokesperson confirmed: "In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again."
