Ben Godfrey has been ruled out for four weeks after scans revealed a hamstring injury, dealing an early-season blow to Rangers. The 28-year-old, on loan from Atalanta, limped out of Friday night's Premiership opener against Dundee United.
The defender's Gers debut was cut short, and subsequent scans confirmed the problem, keeping him sidelined for nearly a month.
Key Matches Missed
Godfrey will miss Rangers' Europa League third qualifying round tie against Jagiellonia Bialystok, as well as the potential playoff round for that competition or the Conference League. He is also unavailable for the Premier Sports Cup last 16 clash at home to St Mirren.
Centre Back Search Intensifies
Manager Derek McInnes is now set to ramp up his search for another centre back. South African international Olwethu Makhanya can slot in, after Dujon Sterling was shifted over from right back at Tannadice as a stopgap measure.
John Souttar finds himself on the outside looking in, with English Championship and League One interest in the Scotland centre back. Sheffield United, Swansea, and Leicester City are all keen, but any move will likely have to wait until McInnes can bring in another body in the centre of defence.
