Manchester United are closing in on the return of Mason Mount, with interim manager Michael Carrick revealing the midfielder is 'not too far away' from first-team action. Mount has been sidelined since January with a minor injury picked up in training, missing the last several matches.
Carrick provided an update ahead of the weekend win over Tottenham, stating: 'He's not too far away. We're hopeful it won't be too long.' Mount could be available for Tuesday's trip to West Ham or the subsequent fixture against Everton as United push for a Champions League spot.
Defender Matthijs de Ligt is also making progress after a lower back injury sustained in late November has kept him out for over two months. Carrick said: 'Matta is working his way back, taking good steps, improving and being really positive. Hopefully won't be too long.' De Ligt has yet to return to training.
However, Patrick Dorgu faces a longer absence after suffering a hamstring injury in the win over Arsenal. Carrick confirmed: 'Pat, unfortunately, is going to be out for a period of time... a few weeks out.' Reports suggest Dorgu could be sidelined for up to ten weeks, potentially returning in early April.
