Liverpool are waiting to discover the extent of the fitness issue for Jeremy Jacquet that forced him to miss France's UEFA Nations League clash with Belgium on Monday evening.
Jacquet was absent from the 4-1 win, with the French Football Federation releasing a statement declaring the centre-back had suffered a "strain to his left hamstring".
Return to Merseyside for assessment
The 21-year-old will now return to Merseyside for further assessment on the setback that has raised concerns over his availability for Sunday's Premier League visit of Manchester City.
Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola already has doubts over Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo, who picked up thigh and ankle problems respectively when featuring for Sweden and the Netherlands last week.
First senior France call-up under Zidane
Jacquet had started the previous two games for his country, having been handed a first senior call-up during the international window by new France boss Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane allayed fears the defender - who was spotted smiling when celebrating on the pitch after the game - when later explaining his decision to hand every player in his squad a game over the last fortnight.
"We did what we said we would, we prepared things so that everyone would have their moment, and that's what we wanted over the 15 days," said Zidane.
"We also had to be careful with the players; we couldn't just do anything, so it was important that everyone had their moment.
"We're happy it went like this, that everyone was able to play. The only one who didn't start was Jean Butez, but even Lenny Yoro played and had a fantastic match after Jeremy (Jacquet) was slightly injured, so it's really great."
Strong start to Liverpool career
Jacquet has been in excellent form for Liverpool since arriving from Rennes in a £60million deal at the start of the summer, starting six of seven games under Iraola this season.
