Laura Woods made her return to television screens on Saturday for the first time since suffering a freak facial injury on holiday. The TNT Sports and DAZN presenter, 36, was part of the punditry team for the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.
Woods had been forced to pull out of covering Tyson Fury's fight with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia last month after she accidentally swung a pillow into a glass lampshade, which shattered and cut her face and arms. She was pictured in public with a bandage on her cheek shortly after the incident.
During the broadcast, Woods wasted no time in quizzing special guest Jose Mourinho about his next move. The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss is widely expected to take over at Turkish side Fenerbahce. After a subtle approach failed, Woods laughed and said, 'This isn't the first time he's done this, I'll have to take the direct approach.' A smiling Mourinho replied: 'I would say that maybe I travel tomorrow, yeah.'
Explaining her injury on social media last month, Woods wrote: 'I had an accident last weekend at a holiday cottage. I swung a pillow and hit a large, glass lampshade hanging from the ceiling above me, which shattered and cut my face and arms, but luckily missed my eye.' She thanked those who helped her, including her partner Adam, her agents, and the medical team who treated her.
Woods added: 'It was a hell of a shock and I've been a bit sad, but I'm feeling very lucky it wasn't worse. So a big thanks to my eyebrow too, for taking the brunt of it.'
