Drag performer La Voix has shared a startling revelation about her time on Strictly Come Dancing, confessing she danced for two weeks with a broken foot before being medically forced to quit the BBC competition.
The Hidden Injury and Heartbreaking Silence
Appearing on ITV's Loose Women on Wednesday, the 45-year-old star, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, explained the full story behind her sudden withdrawal last month. She suffered a fractured metatarsal but kept the painful secret from producers, judges, and even her professional partner, Aljaž Škorjanec.
"I did two weeks on the show not knowing I'd broken my foot," La Voix told panellists Coleen Nolan, Myleene Klass, Gloria Hunniford, and Jane Moore. "I didn't want to tell anyone, I was in so much pain. I knew that might be the end of the line, so I thought maybe it's muscular, I'd get over it."
The injury, a stress fracture, occurred during what she described as "foxtrot week, which is quite an easy week." She noted that head judge Shirley Ballas later commented it is a common injury in the dancing world.
Performing in Pain and a Tour Return
La Voix revealed the injury was the reason she wore flat shoes for her Couple's Choice routine, which prompted criticism from Shirley Ballas about being "flat footed." "I thought well you do it with a broken foot!" La Voix said. "But I couldn't say anything."
Her journey was cut short just before the Blackpool special, after she had received a bye to the following week. Despite the painful exit, there is a glittering silver lining. It was confirmed last week that La Voix will join the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour in 2026.
She will be reunited with Aljaž Škorjanec for the nationwide arena tour, which will also feature fellow contestant Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, and Craig Revel Horwood.
"I loved being part of Strictly and was devastated when my time on the show was cut short because of injury," La Voix said. "But now I’m absolutely thrilled to have the chance to get back on an even bigger dancefloor."
A Cherished, Terrifying Experience
Reflecting on her brief but memorable stint, La Voix described Strictly as "the most terrifying thing I've ever done in my life, but also really enjoyable." She spoke of the emotional rollercoaster, referencing the challenge of receiving a low score of two for her Cha Cha. "That stays with you all week because you think you've got to prove yourself. I'm not a dancer!"
She praised the warm embrace from hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman and the entire Strictly team. Her professional partner, Aljaž Škorjanec, 35, gave an emotional tribute, stating he had "made two friends for life" in La Voix and Chris (her real self), and that "the world needs more of you."
La Voix's withdrawal meant none of the remaining six couples faced the public vote that weekend. She follows former Love Island star Dani Dyer and Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis, who also left the 2024 series early due to injury.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and iPlayer.
