Hollie Doyle has revealed that the left leg she broke in a fall at Bath last month "won't be ready for weight bearing for another five weeks."
Injury Update
The 29-year-old, Britain's winning-most female rider, had ridden ten winners in 14 days to climb to fifth place in the Flat jockeys' championship when she had a fall after the horse she was riding went wrong and was fatally injured.
Hollie was taken to hospital where x-rays showed she had suffered a complex fracture. In subsequent surgery she had plates inserted to stabilise the limb and underwent surgery to insert plates in her leg the following week, putting no timescale on her return to action.
At the time she said: "It's extremely painful and at this stage I have no timeframe to work to in terms of getting back in the saddle. I know I'm facing a long spell on the sidelines but am committed to getting back as soon as I can."
Career Highlights
Hollie has ridden 1,135 British winners in her career, including ten at Group 1 level. She was on track to ride a century of winners for the seventh year running in 2025 but finished two short of the target because she took up a short-term contract offer to ride in Hong Kong.
Latest Update
In her latest update for Attheraces.com she said: "I've been housebound since an operation to fix my broken left leg so I can't wait to make my first visit to racing's fantastic facility at Oaksey House Rehabilitation and Fitness Centre in Lambourn next week.
"I'll be back at hospital on Tuesday to have a boot and leg brace fitted which will enable me to start some form of exercise.
"The leg is still painful and won't be ready for weight bearing for another five weeks but at least I'll be able to get about with the help of crutches.
"Since my fall at Bath last month I haven't missed a race on television. Some jockeys don't enjoy watching our sport when they're sidelined but I'm obsessed with it. It's important to me to keep my finger on the pulse and it's certainly helping to pass the time."
