Henderson Out of World Cup With Broken Arm After Freak Accident

England midfielder Jordan Henderson has been ruled out of the rest of the World Cup after suffering a broken arm in a freak accident following the team's 3-2 victory over Mexico in the round of 16. The injury occurred when Henderson slipped while climbing over advertising hoardings at the Azteca Stadium, causing him to fall and land awkwardly on his arm. He was given oxygen and taken off the pitch on a stretcher before being rushed to hospital for surgery.

Teammate Provides Update on Henderson's Condition

Speaking on the Lions' Den show, England defender Marc Guehi provided an update on Henderson's condition, saying: "Hendo's good man, he's in a better place than he was yesterday. It was obviously scary for him and his family and for everyone else but we're just glad that he's on the road to a speedy recovery." Henderson is expected to remain with the England squad for the remainder of their World Cup campaign, despite being unable to play.

Manager Tuchel Reacts to Mixed Emotions

England manager Thomas Tuchel expressed mixed emotions after the match, praising his team's mentality while lamenting Henderson's injury. "My emotions are very mixed. I'm just proud of the mentality and the attitude. Round of 32, round of 16 is the moment in tournament where you find a way to win. We did it with pure mentality, with heart. We overcame every obstacle that was thrown at us. I am so proud of the mentality and the will of this team. It is a very, very special night for us," Tuchel said.

He added: "Mixed feelings also because I am exhausted of course and emotional but also sad because Jordan got injured. He injured his wrist, he is at the moment in the hospital. It is a quite serious injury. It just doesn't fit to the evening that Jordan is now not with us. I don't know the procedure which is going on. I just did the press and the doc told me he's in hospital."

Impact on England's World Cup Campaign

Henderson's absence is a significant blow to England's midfield depth as they prepare for the quarter-finals. The 36-year-old has been a key figure in the squad, providing experience and leadership. His injury adds to the team's challenges, with defender Jarell Quansah facing a potential ban after a red card incident in the same match. The Football Association is considering an appeal, with even former US President Donald Trump weighing in on the controversy surrounding Folarin Balogun's role in the incident.
